Nexus Terms of Service, Community Standards & Privacy Policy
You must accept these terms to continue using Nexus.
Last Updated: July 25, 2026
Welcome to Nexus. These Terms of Service (“Terms”), Community Standards, and Privacy Policy govern your access to and use of the Nexus platform, website, messaging systems, media systems, and associated services (“Services”). By creating an account, accessing Nexus, or continuing to use the platform in any way, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to all policies described below.
IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THESE TERMS, YOU MUST IMMEDIATELY DISCONTINUE USE OF THE PLATFORM.
SECTION 1 — ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
1.1(a) By registering for Nexus, you certify that you are permitted to use the Services under applicable laws, school policies, and local regulations.
1.1(b) Nexus is intended for educational, demonstration, development, communication, and community purposes. Use of the Services must comply with all applicable school rules, district policies, state laws, and federal laws.
1.2(a) The developers, moderators, administrators, and staff members of Nexus reserve the right to interpret, enforce, modify, or expand these Terms at any time without prior notice.
1.2(b) Continued use of Nexus following updates or modifications to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
1.3(a) Nexus is available only to individuals 13 years of age or older. By using Nexus you represent that you are at least 13. If we learn that a user is under 13, the account will be deactivated and, absent a timely response correcting the record, deleted along with its associated data after 7 days.
SECTION 2 — COMMUNITY CONDUCT & USER RESPONSIBILITIES
2.1(a) Users are expected to maintain a respectful environment while using Nexus. Excessive swearing, slurs, racist jokes, discriminatory language, dark humor targeting protected groups, explicit GIFs, sexual language, sexually suggestive content, harassment, threats, impersonation, bullying, intimidation, or intentionally disruptive behavior will not be tolerated in public chats, group chats, usernames, display names, biographies, profile pictures, room names, or other publicly visible areas of the platform.
2.1(b) Users may not evade moderation actions through alternate accounts, altered usernames, edited biographies, hidden rooms, or indirect messaging methods.
2.2(a) Any attempts to exploit platform systems, including but not limited to the shop system, shards, currency systems, permissions, API systems, role systems, or room ownership systems, are strictly prohibited.
2.2(b) Users who responsibly report bugs, exploits, vulnerabilities, or unintended behavior before abusing them may be exempt from punishment at staff discretion.
2.3(a) Spam, mass pinging, flooding, chain messaging, malicious links, phishing attempts, malware distribution, account theft attempts, or automated abuse of platform systems are prohibited.
2.3(b) Users are solely responsible for all content they upload, send, store, distribute, or otherwise make available through Nexus.
2.4(a) The “Report” function should be used whenever users believe content violates these Terms or otherwise creates safety concerns.
SECTION 3 — MODERATION, ENFORCEMENT & STAFF AUTHORITY
3.1(a) Nexus staff maintain full authority over moderation decisions and platform enforcement.
3.1(b) Staff decisions are final on all matters relating to warnings, bans, suspensions, room ownership, account restrictions, message removal, profile modifications, and access to Services.
3.2(a) Users who violate these Terms may receive moderation actions including warnings, kicks, room removals, communication restrictions, temporary suspensions, permanent bans, or feature limitations.
3.2(b) Standard enforcement may include:
- First offense: Warning from staff or moderation systems
- Three warnings total: 1-day suspension
- Additional warnings beyond three: Additional suspension periods or escalated punishment
3.2(c) Severe violations, including exploitation, threats, malicious conduct, evasion, explicit content, hate speech, or repeated abuse, may result in immediate bans without warning.
3.3(a) Staff and developers reserve the right to:
- View messages, including messages in private rooms, when reasonably necessary
- Join private rooms for moderation, investigation, or security purposes
- Edit or remove usernames, biographies, profile pictures, statuses, or room information
- Transfer or revoke room ownership
- Remove users from rooms or prevent access to rooms
- Suspend or terminate accounts at staff discretion
- Restrict access to features, servers, or systems at any time
3.3(b) Moderators and developers may issue temporary moderation actions for testing, security, enforcement validation, moderation training, or operational purposes where reasonably necessary.
3.4(a) If you believe you were punished unfairly, you may appeal by contacting:
- 2305547@share.brevardschools.org
- 1713133@share.brevardschools.org
- Or another Nexus developer or administrator
SECTION 4 — PRIVACY POLICY & DATA PRACTICES
4.1(a) Nexus may collect account information including usernames, display names, email addresses, IP addresses, device information, browser information, uploaded media, profile information, and communication content.
4.1(b) Messages, files, images, room activity, moderation history, and metadata may be stored on Nexus systems, backups, logs, databases, or third-party infrastructure providers.
4.2(a) Authorized staff may access messages, files, or account details only where reasonably necessary for safety, security, legal compliance, or investigating a specific violation — not for general operational or developmental browsing.
4.2(b) While Nexus attempts to maintain reasonable security practices, no system can guarantee complete confidentiality, uninterrupted service, or absolute protection against unauthorized access.
4.3(a) Deletion removes content from the app, not from our records. When you delete a message, other content, or your account, it is removed from public view and from the Nexus interface. However, Nexus retains copies of messages, uploaded content, account identifiers, and activity on its backend systems after deletion. Deletion hides data from you and other users; it does not erase it from our records.
4.3(b) Access & sign-in logging. Nexus keeps a log of accounts that access the service, including the email address, and the date and time of access, together with standard technical data (such as IP address, device, and browser information). These access logs are retained on our backend.
4.3(c) Why we retain it. Retained messages, content, and access logs are kept for safety, security, abuse prevention, and legal compliance — including so that Nexus can respond to lawful requests from school officials, law enforcement, or other authorities where required or appropriate. Access to retained data is restricted to authorized staff.
4.4(a) You may delete your account and remove your content from the app at any time via the in-app deletion option or by contacting the privacy contact (2305547@share.brevardschools.org). This removes the content from the interface and from other users' view; as described in 4.3(a)–(c), backend copies and access logs are retained.
4.4(b) By using Nexus, you acknowledge and consent to these data retention, logging, and moderation practices, including the retention of your messages and access logs after deletion as described above.
SECTION 5 — PLATFORM LIABILITY & DISCLAIMERS
5.1(a) Nexus provides real-time communication functionality between users. User-generated content is not continuously monitored in real time.
5.1(b) Users are solely responsible for the content they create, upload, distribute, or communicate through the Services.
5.2(a) By using Nexus, you acknowledge that the developers, moderators, administrators, contributors, or associated parties are not liable for:
- User-generated content
- Harassment or disputes between users
- Data loss or corruption
- Unauthorized access to accounts
- Service outages or downtime
- Content accuracy or reliability
- Damages resulting from use of the platform
5.3(a) Nexus is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
5.3(b) Developers reserve the right to modify, suspend, limit, or permanently discontinue any feature, service, room, account, or system at any time without notice.
SECTION 6 — SCHOOL & JURISDICTION NOTICE
6.1(a) This project is intended for development, educational, demonstration, and community communication purposes.
6.1(b) Users are responsible for ensuring that their use of Nexus complies with school district policies, classroom rules, and local regulations.
6.3(a) Nexus is an independent personal project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of Brevard Public Schools or any school or district. Nexus is not intended for use on school networks, school-managed devices, or school accounts, and users are responsible for their own compliance with any applicable school or network policies.
6.2(a) Nexus is operated in the State of Florida. By using the Services, users agree that any disputes, claims, or enforcement matters may be governed under applicable Florida laws where legally permitted.
6.2(b) If any section of these Terms is determined to be unenforceable, the remaining sections shall remain in effect.
SECTION 7 — FINAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
By selecting “I Understand and Accept,” you acknowledge that:
- You have read and agreed to these Terms
- You understand that staff have final authority on moderation matters
- You understand that your data and messages may be reviewed when necessary
- You understand that Nexus may retain your data indefinitely
- You understand that account deletion or full data removal may not be available
- You accept responsibility for all activity performed through your account
- You agree to comply with all community standards and moderation actions
SECTION 8 — LEGAL WAIVERS & SCHOOL USAGE NOTICE
8.1(a) By using Nexus, you agree to waive, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, any right to bring lawsuits, legal claims, class actions, damages claims, or liability claims against Nexus, its developers, moderators, administrators, contributors, hosting providers, or affiliated parties arising from or related to use of the Services.
8.1(b) Users agree that any disputes, complaints, or claims relating to Nexus shall first be attempted to be resolved informally through direct communication with staff or developers before any external action is considered.
8.1(c) To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, users agree that any dispute arising from use of the Services shall be resolved individually and not as part of any class, collective, or representative proceeding.
8.2(a) Nexus strongly discourages use of the platform during class time, instructional periods, examinations, restricted school activities, or in situations where device usage is prohibited by teachers, administrators, districts, or local policies.
8.2(b) If you choose to use Nexus during class, school hours, or restricted educational environments, you do so entirely at your own risk and discretion.
8.2(c) Nexus, its developers, moderators, and affiliates are not responsible or liable for disciplinary action, device confiscation, academic penalties, suspension, restriction of school privileges, or other consequences resulting from your use of the platform in violation of school or classroom rules.
8.3(a) Users are individually responsible for ensuring their own compliance with school technology policies, acceptable-use agreements, district regulations, parental restrictions, and local laws.
8.3(b) Continued use of Nexus constitutes acknowledgment and acceptance of all legal waivers, disclaimers, moderation authority, and liability limitations described within these Terms.
SECTION 9 — THIRD-PARTY FEATURES, PROXY & MEDIA
9.1(a) Nexus includes access to third-party features including but not limited to embedded games, a web proxy, music players, and movie/media services. These features are provided as-is for convenience purposes only.
9.1(b) Nexus is not responsible for the content, accuracy, availability, legality, or safety of any third-party website, service, or platform accessed through the proxy, games tab, music system, movies tab, or any other integrated external feature.
9.2(a) Users who access external websites or services through the Nexus proxy system do so entirely at their own risk. Nexus does not monitor, control, endorse, or assume liability for content viewed through the proxy.
9.2(b) Use of the proxy — or any Nexus feature — for unlawful purposes, or to access, view, or distribute adult, sexually explicit, or otherwise illegal content, or to bypass school security systems, circumvent content filters, or engage in any prohibited activity, is strictly forbidden and may result in immediate account termination. Report abuse or request a takedown at 2305547@share.brevardschools.org.
9.3(a) Games accessed through the Nexus Games tab are hosted by third-party providers. Nexus does not own, control, or guarantee the availability or content of any game. Users assume all responsibility for content encountered in games.
9.3(b) Music and media accessed through Nexus music or movies integrations are provided by third-party services. Nexus is not liable for licensing, copyright, or availability of streamed content.
9.4(a) Harassment, defamation, targeted abuse, doxxing, or any communication intended to harm, humiliate, or intimidate another user is strictly prohibited and constitutes grounds for immediate permanent ban, regardless of whether the conduct occurs in public rooms, private DMs, or via any Nexus feature.
9.4(b) Defamatory statements — including false claims of fact about another user or person — are prohibited. Users who make defamatory statements assume full personal legal and moral responsibility for such content.
9.5(a) Any abuse or exploitation of platform features — including but not limited to the shard system, shop, quests, daily packs, or moderation tools — will result in moderation action up to and including permanent removal of the exploited items and account suspension.
9.5(b) Nexus staff and developers reserve the right to enforce these policies, remove content, revoke features, or restrict access at their sole discretion with or without prior notice.
9.6(a) By using any third-party integrated feature within Nexus, you agree that Nexus assumes no responsibility for harm, data exposure, disciplinary action, or legal consequence arising from use of those features.
SECTION 10 — DMCA / COPYRIGHT POLICY
10.1(a) Nexus respects intellectual property rights. If you believe content accessible through Nexus infringes your copyright, send a notice to the DMCA contact below including: identification of the work, the location of the material, your contact information, a good-faith statement, and your signature.
10.1(b) Nexus will remove or disable access to material subject to a valid notice and will terminate the accounts of repeat infringers. A counter-notice process is available.
SECTION 11 — CONTACT
For privacy requests, DMCA / copyright notices, and abuse or proxy-takedown reports, contact: 2305547@share.brevardschools.org.
Nexus and its staff reserve all rights not explicitly stated herein. Staff interpretation of these Terms supersedes user interpretation. Features, moderation systems, logging systems, enforcement systems, and data policies may change at any time without notice. By continuing to use Nexus, users acknowledge that they assume all responsibility for their own actions while using the platform. Nexus is provided on an “AS IS” basis without guarantees of uptime, privacy, availability, or uninterrupted access.
Nexus Privacy Policy
Last Updated: July 25, 2026
Draft notice: This Privacy Policy describes how Nexus actually handles your data. It is provided for transparency and is not legal advice — review and adjust before relying on it publicly.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Nexus (“we”, “us”, the “Services”) collects, how it is used, where it is stored, who can access it, and the choices you have. It supplements the Nexus Terms of Service. By using Nexus you acknowledge the practices described here.
1 — INFORMATION WE COLLECT
1.1 Account & identity. When you sign in, we verify your Brevard Public Schools email address through a Google Apps Script authentication step and create an account keyed to that email. We store your username, display name, and any profile details, avatar, or banner you provide.
1.2 Content you create. Messages, direct messages, replies, reactions, polls, uploaded files and media, room memberships, and related activity are stored so the Services can function.
1.3 Preferences & activity. We store your settings (theme, notifications, accessibility, and other preferences), block list, presence/online status, and in-app economy data (shards, cosmetics, quests).
1.4 Technical data. Like any website, our infrastructure receives standard request data such as IP address, device, and browser information when you connect.
2 — WHERE YOUR DATA IS STORED
2.1 Account data, messages, and preferences are stored in our Supabase project (a hosted PostgreSQL database). Uploaded files and media are stored in Supabase Storage. The application is served through Cloudflare. These providers process data on our behalf as infrastructure providers.
2.2 Your settings are synced to your account so they follow you across devices. Signing in on another device loads those preferences from our database.
3 — HOW WE USE YOUR DATA
3.1 We use your data to operate and improve the Services, deliver messages, sync your preferences, run the in-app economy, and maintain safety through moderation, abuse prevention, and security. We do not sell your personal information.
4 — WHO CAN ACCESS YOUR DATA
4.1 Authorized staff may access messages, files, or account details only where reasonably necessary for safety, security, legal compliance, or investigating a specific violation — not for general operational or developmental browsing.
5 — THIRD-PARTY FEATURES & EMBEDS
5.1 Nexus embeds third-party experiences, including music, a web proxy, games, movie/TV content (via TMDB), and AI features. When you open these, your browser connects directly to those external services, which may receive your IP address and usage data under their own privacy policies. Nexus does not control and is not responsible for the data practices of third-party services.
6 — DATA RETENTION
6.1 Deletion hides data; it does not erase our records. When you delete a message, other content, or your account, it is removed from public view and from the Nexus interface, but Nexus retains copies of your messages, uploaded content, account identifiers, and activity on its backend systems after deletion. You can remove content from the app at any time via the in-app option or by contacting 2305547@share.brevardschools.org; doing so hides it from you and other users but does not delete our retained copies.
6.2 Access & sign-in logs. Nexus keeps and retains a log of accounts that access the service — the email address, the date and time of access, and standard technical data such as IP address, device, and browser information.
6.3 Why. We retain the above for safety, security, abuse prevention, and legal compliance, including to respond to lawful requests from school officials, law enforcement, or other authorities where required or appropriate. Access to retained data is limited to authorized staff (see Section 4).
7 — YOUR CHOICES
7.1 You can block other users, enable the chat filter, and adjust accessibility and notification settings at any time in Settings. You may remove your content and account from the app at any time; as described in Section 6, this hides the data from you and other users but does not erase the copies and access logs Nexus retains on its backend for the purposes stated above.
8 — SCHOOL CONTEXT & SECURITY
8.1 Nexus is intended for use by Brevard Public Schools students and is subject to applicable school policies and law. While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no system can guarantee complete security or confidentiality.
9 — CHANGES & CONTACT
9.1 We may update this Privacy Policy at any time; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. For privacy questions or data requests, contact the Nexus staff team.

Nexus Proxy has been removed
The school's web filter flagged Nexus under “Proxies: Filtering Bypass” because of it, which put the whole site at risk — chat, games, music and everything else.
Removing it was the trade that keeps the rest of Nexus reachable. It may come back in a different form later; for now, everything else works exactly as before.
